The Answer: “The question is: ‘How much Pop Culture will we allow in the church?’ If your church can forgo a Halloween party alternative without rustling the feathers of a bunch of irritated parents...do it! If you must appease some of the people who can’t seem to grasp the negative roots of Halloween, do what we do at our church. We host a ‘Garden Party’ for the church kids and the community and use it as a way to introduce the local families to our assembly.”
The Answer: “Well, while I have always participated in those alternatives I have never felt like I’m missing much by not celebrating Halloween—it’s all about devils and ghosts—really celebratory.”
The Answer: “Yea, we have a ‘harvest party.’”
The Answer: “Our church does an alternative to Halloween by having ‘carnival’ type games set up where the children can win prizes. For us it is a good thing to do because we are able to use at as a good type of outreach. We have a lot of visitors come that night…”
The Answer: “Everybody should go out and eat pizza.”
The Answer: “Let me ask you a question. Why is it that a Trinitarian blog makes this preposition for how Christians could spend Halloween—‘Would others that read (this blog) here be willing to commit October 31st as a day of fasting and prayer and humbly ask the Lord Jesus to sovereignly move among His people by His Holy Spirit to revive us, cleanse us, reform us, and embolden us to proclaim His gospel of grace to lost souls right where we live?’ And yet Apostolics spend the night in eating potluck, gorging on candy, and playing games—because, after all, we don’t want our poor children to be deprived of what ‘fun’ the world has! Never mind the lost souls; never mind the pagan revelry going on outside the door, never mind the demonic and satanic and Wiccan activities going on this night! By all means, don’t have intercessory prayer—let’s have a party, and eat candy!”
The Answer: “Why? It is a good time to have fun. We always need an excuse to have fun. The singles group at my church is having a vintage party! Fun!”
