ApTube 2007

So are there creative Pentecostals in the visual arts? We’re about to find out.
Everyone knows the world has gone ga-ga over YouTube (and its many imitators), with reports of 65,000 new videos uploaded every 24 hours, 100 million clips viewed daily, and up to 20 million viewers each month.
That’s even more amazing when you consider how many people around the world are eschewing professionally produced television shows and movies boasting acting star power to watch endless amateur no-names ramble on about life, lip synch popular songs, and generally do nothing worthwhile (to put it kindly) on low-rez videotape.
This indicates another cry for authenticity in this generation that Hollywood cannot fill. That’s why it’s so disappointing that we’ve seen so little Apostolic creativity on these epicenter web sites. So ninetyandnine.com’d like to change that.
Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
We’re proud to announce ninetyandnine.com’s ApTube 2007. The contest details are below, but basically we’d like to challenge you to create a 1-5 minute video that can be uploaded to ninetyandnine for real prize money. It would be our exclusive for six months (hey, we’re the ones forking over the money), then it’s yours to upload to YouTube or wherever else on the net.
Before we give away our hard-earned money (you are using our Amazon link when purchasing there, correct?) we must receive a minimum of 15 entries from 15 completely unique sources (i.e. you cannot submit one for yourself, one with your youth group, one with your buddies at Bible college and it count as three. If you’re involved in three videos, then it counts as one source). However, you are welcome to submit up to three videos of your own for the prize money. If there’s a great response we’ll do it again next year (and maybe sooner). In the meantime, we hope you'll upload future videos to our site.
The videos will begin appearing by our March 12, 2007 issue, but possibly sooner.Amaze and Thrill Us
It’s up to you on content. All we ask is that it’s morally clean and could be equally enjoyed by believers and non-believers.
Frankly, we’d love to become a congregation point for Apostolic creativity before it’s disseminated to web sites and churches around the world.
Will It Work?
We hope so. You have until Feb 28, 2007 (6 weeks) to video your idea and show it to the world. Who knows where God will take it from there?
