Reader Letters

January 29, 2007

Don’t know about you, but January is already a blur, and February is breathing down our necks! So how is this year going so far? Well not too bad for us. We are still looking forward to more articles submitted by you, but have been happy at the initial response to our $300 ApTube Challenge and  to last week’s cover interview about Mennonites. This week we’re thinking your predictions about possible splits in the Apostolic movement might create some positive conversation on unity and biblical principles. It’s always exciting when you share your heart via writing and others respond.

RE: Old Order Mennonites

I read the interview with Ms. Coffield with great interest, since I, too, was born and raised as an Old Order Mennonite, and now am Oneness Pentecostal.

While the interview speaks a great deal of her personal experience, it unfortunately does not accurately portray the Old Order Mennonite faith and practice. For example, many Old Order Mennonite homes do have devotions and prayer as an integral part of their daily life. This was quite often a daily occurrence in my own family.

Also, I would argue, that while their love for God is not so much a verbal expression it is, nonetheless, genuine and faith-filled. I, for one, continuously draw on my upbringing for moral guidance, family values, and Christian compassion.

There are many Mennonites in my life, both family and friends, whom I consider nothing less than first-class Christians.

In Jesus,

RE: Dear Gabby

Did something happen to Gabby? I used to read her every month, but if there was something said about her absence, I missed it.
