It’s not often that an Apostolic breaks onto the Christian music charts, but everything about Karen Harding’s rise to prominence has been unexpected.
As we turn the page on another year, it is time to pause and reflect on events and people that made the headlines in 2003. We asked you, our readers, to submit your votes for the top three newsworthy events in the Apostolic movement for 2003.

It was September 2003. We were traveling to an Aboriginal community called Nyrippi in the Simpson Desert of Central Australia, better known as the Outback. Nyrippi is in an isolated area, 600 kilometers by road (northwest) of Alice Springs and 100 kilometers from the next small community. The climate is extremely dry and hot. Dusty plains of red sand surround the area for as far as the eye can see, and the occasional camel, kangaroo, and/or eagle can be sighted if one watches carefully.

Many events have happened in the world of Pentecost since our last installment. Some have been tragic and some good. Some have been interesting and some down right boring. We will explore some of the less-than-boring today.
On November 1-2, 2002 at Calvary Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, God moved. From the opening exhortation Friday night to the host youth pastor Jonathan Walker’s keynote address, the tone was set for a conference focused on a deeper walk with God. Gateway College of Evangelism’s Chorale led with anointed singing interspersed throughout the service. The combined youth from Apostolic Church in Barberton, Ohio, and Calvary dramatically enacted through signing a powerful Kirk Franklin song. An overwhelming power fell upon the congregation.

College Denied Accreditation Because of Creationist Views
Two years ago, Patrick Henry College in Washington, D.C. was established as the first college in the nation designed primarily for home schooled students. That alone would be noteworthy, but the real news at Patrick Henry these days is regarding its status to become accredited; one agency refuses to accredit the college at all because of the school’s stance on Creationism versus evolution.
Tornadoes are born when two forces of wind collide. Babies are born when two cells merge into one. Nature teaches us that extraordinary things happen when two elements bond together. In 1945, the United Pentecostal Church International was born when two groups of Apostolic ministers decided to unite under one banner. Today that organization is the largest Oneness Pentecostal fellowship in the world, claiming more than two million members, seven North American Bible colleges, and one seminary. And it was at this seminary, the Urshan Graduate School of Theology, where the most recent merger took place.
