From Misery to Victory, One Teen's Story

By Amy Potter

I am 15 years old, and here is my testimony of how God has touched my life.

I lived with my aunt and uncle until I was about nine years old, because my mom already had two kids from other marriages. When she found out she was pregnant with me, Mom was just going to abort me. My aunt said, “No way,” and let me live with her. You would think that things would be fine from there, but they were really bad.

Clueless, but Completely Secure

By Sarah k. Holland

As a kid, especially those trying teenage years, the only thing you want is the opportunity to make your own choices, even if it means making mistakes. You scream and holler that it should be your decision on how you live your life; it’s your life after all. However, it’s not until you’re given the chance to make your own decisions that you realize how absolutely insane it is to WANT such a responsibility. I, myself, didn’t even realize just how crazy it really was, until I was suddenly forced into that position.

The Easy Road to Nowhere

By Rick Klohn

Like many others now in this truth, I wasn’t raised in a church.  And, though my parents had been members of traditional churches in the past and my father’s family was active in the church they belonged to, as children we seldom attended.  I suppose you would call us C & E Christians; we were Christians because we went on Christmas and Easter, and, after all, we were Americans for cryin’ out loud!

Fine Lines-A Testimony of Receiving

By Kris Newman

Looking out of the glassed-in conference room, you see a fabulous view of the historic architecture lining the Milwaukee River.  At any given time, medical authorities sought the world over for their expertise can be seen chatting with attorneys as they review films and cases, giving expert opinions which may well be published in national periodicals.  The marble countertop of the reception area is set off by the mahogany secretarial stations and the modern artwork lacing the walls.  Professional orderliness is the rule of the day; courtesies are commonly exchanged.  This is the atmosphere where millionaires feel comfortable, daily.  This is the atmosphere where business litigation and medical malpractice defense teams flourish.

Why Courage?

By Danan Benson

“And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me; nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done” (Luke 22: 41-42).

This is My Story....This is My Song

By Lyn St. John

One person can make a difference. Had my friend not been bold and told me what she believed, I would not be living for God today. Don’t be ashamed of what God has done for you. Be a light to your friends and co-workers. Tell them what you know.

Experiencing the Passion of the Christ

By Robin Parfait

There are no words to describe the range of emotions I felt while watching The Passion of the Christ. Yes, I went to see this movie and I have to say that I'm glad I did. To say that I came out of the theater with a deeper appreciation for what Jesus did for me is an understatement. I realized that I've become complacent about Jesus' death, burial and resurrection. It's been watered down to a nice story that we sing about or what we tell our children in Sunday school. Sure, I know that He loves me and died for me but I hadn't grasped the full extent of the sacrifice Jesus made for me and I don't expect that I ever really will. I can't say that I would recommend this movie to just anyone. It is extremely graphic and intense and I'm not sure that I care to see it again. But it has made me see just how much I take Jesus' sacrifice for granted.

From Mystery to Miracle to Madagascar: Declaring the End from the Beginning

By Danan Benson

Scribbled into my journal, dated 1996, were the accounts of two dreams that have turned out to be of great significance in the life of my family.  The latter of the two made no sense to me at the time, as it was prophetic concerning a series of events that would occur over a seven-year time span, concluding in 2003.  This dream ended with my family walking up a cement walkway leading us to a place across the Atlantic ocean named “Rock City.”

Public Schools: The Right Choice for My Family

By Karen (Gordon) Hemmes

It was interesting for me to read Gabby’s column and the responses about how to choose the right educational opportunities for our children. It made me want to tell a bit of my own story.
